Podcasts are the next best thing since sliced bread though you definitely don't need to have a Mac, (though having one does make it easier) and you defintely don't have to have an iPod to do it.

 

Radio Willowweb

Radio Willowweb is one of the longest running school based podcasts around.

iTunes is the place to locate an ever increasing range of podcasts both educational and otherwise. You can also lodge your podcasts here for others to find and subscribe to.

 

Podomatic

Once you have done making your podcast, Podomatic is a free space to upload them for others to listen to. From Podomatic you can also make links to iTunes. 

 

Audacity

Audacity is a free cross platform application for compiling and editing your sound files. You will need to extract and install the LAME encoder exe on your computer alongside Audacity, (see the tutorial below) to export your sound files as MP3 files.
