RSS and Keeping Up With Web 2.0

RSS is the glue that holds all of this Web 2.0 together. It is simply a small line of code that when attached to a website enables users to subscribe to sites so that they receive an alert whenever the site is updated. Additionally the RSS feed can also carry with it simplified information about these updates.

RSS In Plain English

RSS in Plain English is a great explanation from Lee Lefever at CommonCraft

What Is RSS?

This pdf article from the Edutopia magazine has a laymen's description of what RSS is and how you can use it.

Bloglines

Bloglines is a FREE online service for searching, subscribing, creating and sharing news feeds, blogs and rich web content.

Sage RSS Reader

Sage is the RSS and Atom feed reader extension for Mozilla Firefox that I use.

Google reader

Google Reader is another online feed reader. With Google Reader you can also set it up to work offline.

Using Microsoft Office

Both Internet Explorer, (as well as Firefox and Safari browsers) and Outlook have notes on their built in RSS aggregation services that can be used for smaller number of feeds.

PageFlakes

PageFlakes is a space that you use to aggregate and share all manner of feeds and links including podcasts, news feeds and lot more.

BPS Senior Pageflakes

BPS Seniors PageFlakes is the aggregation of all of the online spaces of the 2006 Senior Grades at Bellaire PS.

Feedburner

FeedBurner is a slightly different RSS service that you can use to burn your podcast feed to put into iTunes. It also allows you to publish a Headline Animator on your own site from the RSS feed you have subscribed to.
